Fort Bidwell Firewise

In May 2025, Fort Bidwell residents joined forces with CAL FIRE, BLM, USFS, the Fort Bidwell Volunteer Fire Department, the Modoc Fire Safe Council, the Modoc Resource Conservation District, and Lomakatsi for a community clean‑up. Together, they cleared vegetation around homes and along roadways, creating defensible space and reducing wildfire risk. The event highlighted the power of collaboration, with agencies and residents working side by side to protect their community.

Later that month, CAL FIRE and the Modoc Fire Safe Council brought the Fire Safety Trailer to the Fort Bidwell Volunteer Fire Department’s annual BBQ. Children learned how to safely evacuate from a house fire through interactive demonstrations, while families connected with fire professionals and explored prevention resources.

Although Fort Bidwell only recently submitted its Firewise application, the community has been actively implementing Firewise practices all year showing a proactive commitment to wildfire preparedness and resilience.
